FINANCE: NVIDIA HAS A STELLAR FIRST QUARTER
In the first quarter, Nvidia has been a clear winner with the stock surging more than 80%. The artificial chip maker may still continue to increase and surpass $1000/share. In just 1 day, the stock increased by 16% after sharing their 4th quarter earnings from 2023. Many analysts are considering the stock to be a “buy”.

WORK LIFE: NEW MINIMUM WAGE FOR CALIFORNIA FAST FOOD WORKERS
California's new law went into effect yesterday and requires fast food workers to be paid at minimum of $20/hr. This gives 500,000 employees (in the low-wage sector) more financial security and although labor unions are supporting this, restaurant owners are concerned about slim profit margins and the potential need to raise prices. Some owners are worried that they may have to close locations altogether.

FASHION: RESALE ISN’T SLOWING DOWN
Online resale isn’t insanely profitable but it is gaining shoppers — people want to dress nice. Last year, sales for resale in the US reached $20 billion and is expected to double by 2028. Brands like Balenciaga are jumping on this trend to increase their revenues as well. The challenge for brands is to focus on profitability vs growth.
